Research.

My research contracts typically last for 2-3 years and if I am awarded a research contract I recruit a researcher to one of the different types of research posts to do most of the work. I do not normally charge for my own time as supervisor (this is covered by the overhead). The work is generally of a more long-term nature with publishable results and, as such, is not normally liable for vat.

Consultancy.

Consultancy work is normally short-term investigations that I carry out myself at a cost of £700 - £1000 per day to the client. The results would be confidential to the client and vat would be payable.

This railway sleeper has been split lengthwise as part of a consultancy project.
