These machines are driven mechanically rather than using hydraulics.

These machines are used for most of our testing at low loads. They have capacities of 5 and 10 Tonnes (100 kN) and are fully computer interfaced. On the 10 Tonne machine we have also added interfaces for 4 linear displacement transducers and 4 strain gauges which can also be read by the computer during tests.

The picture on the left shows the 10 Tonne machine. The test frame is on the left, the computer on the right and the instrument interfaces are in the rack between them.

This is a torsion machine with a capacity of 1500 Nm.
