CONCRETE ADMIXTURES Back to home page
Full Title: An
Investigation into the effect of variations in cements on the effectiveness of
admixtures.
Status: I
had a PhD student work on this project.
This project was supported by Fosroc Ltd
Due to the international nature of the
concrete admixture business, and the substantial regional variations in
cements, it has been found that some admixtures work better in some countries
than in others. These difficulties may be solved on an empirical basis when
they arise, but this project investigated the basic mechanisms involved in
order to predict performance of the admixtures more effectively. Laboratory
work included using a computer controlled viscometer to measure the properties
of the grouts, and using analytical chemistry facilities to characterise the
cements.
